Rhein Lahn Living | Lahnstein
Opulent listed industrial heritage site transformed into new homes
What was once Germany’s largest and most state-of-the-art grain mill was built in 1890 and now stands under heritage protection. The industrial character of the existing complex, encompassing the mill building, manager’s villa, workers’ accommodation and a clocktower, is being preserved and supplemented with new buildings. This will create an architectural gem for living and working, with offices and restaurants in the heart of the “Upper Middle Rhine Valley” World Heritage Site. Its location on the Rhine offers a wide range of outdoor leisure opportunities. A shipping pier is planned, opening up innovative concepts for carbon-neutral construction and the use of prefabrication.
