“Südtribüne” inaugurated – Gröner Group completes another 63 apartments in Dortmund

Only 16 months after laying the foundation stone, the nationwide active real estate developer Gröner Group today celebrated the inauguration of the "Südtribüne" project south of Dortmund's city center.

On the more than 70 year old existing building, a former bunker, 63 residential units between 40 and 104 sqm, 54 parking spaces as well as a small commercial unit have been built on almost 4,400 sqm according to the design of the architectural office Kadawittfeldarchitektur from Aachen. With a project volume of just under 23 million euros, the Südtribüne is the company’s first project in the Ruhr metropolis.

Christoph Gröner, Managing Director of Gröner Group, was visibly pleased with the completion. He said: “Our company has more than 25 years of experience in project development and great expertise in converting industrial buildings into apartments. However, redesigning a former bunker and building on top of it was also an exciting challenge for us, especially since we wanted to do so with architectural ambition. All the more reason for me to be delighted with the speed with which the project was realized. It shows that transformation is common practice in the coalfield.”

The ecological standards of the Gröner Group are also applied in the project on Leipziger Straße, adds Christoph Gröner: “As announced, we are relying on a combined heat and power plant, ecological building materials and sustainable energy supply for the South Stand. In doing so, we are aware of our role as a responsible company.” On the one hand, the Gröner Group thus fulfilled the announcements made at the start of the project regarding sustainable and future-oriented energy supply, which protects the environment and reduces costs for the users. On the other hand, the company shows that this can also be realized in complex refurbishment projects.

uBut it is not only the use of green technology that makes the “Südtribüne” pioneering for urban living of the future: thanks to generous windows, a landscaped inner courtyard and the small neighboring park with play areas, future residents will be able to enjoy living both in the countryside and in the middle of the city, thus combining the advantages of both living environments. There is also another highlight: the bunker can also be entered, and after the renovation it will once again be available for guided tours.
